The Butterfly Project is a globally unique project, which sets out to train capable young people in areas of Africa, which are especially disadvantaged, with a programme that is designed to give them the skills to become a social entrepreneur, a changemaker of the future.
In Uganda, SEA has two projects - one based in the slum areas of Kampala, one in the parched rural area, known as Lyantonde.
The project was launched in both Zones in July 2009, with 11 young people prepared to be trained over the next 12 months, with the first session in September 2009.
SEA is working with two local organisations to assist in the delivery of the programme. In Kampala, Life in Africa (Kireka) are our partners and in Lyantonde, we are working together with Child Aid Uganda.
While we are focusing on the implementation of these two projects, it is also intended to launch two further projects in 2010 - one in Masaka and one in Gulu - and SEA seeks funding for these projects over the next few months.
