£1 Will buy 5 “Sugar Baby” melon seeds, which could generate up to 50 melons, selling at £0.40 each, possibly £20 revenue return from £1. However, we have taken a very cautious approach, estimating just one melon per seed in our forecast.
The reason for the share issue is, however, not just to enable the planting of melon seeds for profit; it will also achieve many other outcomes:
a) Facilitate the recruitment of 12 new remote rural children for the Chrysalis School
b) Facilitate the building of the New Chrysalis School for Young Social Entrepreneurs and expand the Chrysalis Centre, so that it can handle more children at a time.
c) Facilitate the training of sixty young social entrepreneurs in Uganda in ICT, Ethics, Activism, Problem-solving, Vision development, thinking skills, public speaking and many other areas
d) Provide schooling for more than 100 children and youth from Primary to University placements for one year
e) Facilitate the individual social projects of up to 60 young social entrepreneurs
f) Recruit an additional twenty members of the Young Social Entrepreneur Network in Uganda
These five sections are what we call the Butterfly Project, a project to train up young people living in slum and rural areas of Africa, giving them the impetus and capability to become the change makers of the future. The Butterfly Project has been an incredible success. Its 20 members have all become young social entrepreneurs and developed and implemented their own social projects.
As part of the Butterfly Project, we also work with younger children, who have shown a level of trustworthiness and care for other children or a specific talent and we support them through a local Primary School, in preparation for attending the Chrysalis School, when they finish their Primary 7 leaving examinations.
